According to the Texas government, the Texas and U.S. populations age 65 and older are growing rapidly, rising by 43.5 percent and 34.2 percent from 2010 to 2019, respectively, an increase fueled by the aging baby-boom generation.
The share of this population compared to the total population in Texas, however, remains well below the U.S. average.
